"Glass Bateo" was a unique event organized during the Venice Glass Week 2024, staged aboard a vaporetto, the traditional Venetian waterbus. Promoted by the Consorzio Promovetro Murano, the project saw rehub take charge of the exhibition design, transforming the vaporetto into an artistic installation and a multifunctional space capable of hosting exhibitions, events, talks, and workshops.
The interiors were completely reimagined using exclusively Murano glass, offering an immersive experience that celebrated local artisanal traditions. The setup featured approximately fifty works from nineteen companies certified with the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark. The installation was constructed using repurposed materials, including discarded glass tubes, reclaimed wood panels, and elements reused from previous exhibitions by the consortium. This approach extended the lifecycle of the setup, ensuring that its components could be reused after the event.
By prioritizing reuse and minimizing waste, the project reflected rehub’s mission and values, aligning sustainability with creativity. Glass Bateo exemplified how tradition and innovation can merge to create meaningful, environmentally conscious experiences.
